Sinopse
O filme acompanha rituais e cantos de saudação às plantas, árvores, folhas e entidades a elas associadas, e apresenta as profundas relações entre espiritualidade e natureza em diferentes culturas brasileiras, passando pelas vertentes do Candomblé Jeje, Ketu e Angola, pela Umbanda e pela cosmovisão de mestras indígenas do Vale do Jequitinhonha (Povo Pankararu) e da Amazônia (Povo Tikuna), nos ensinando sobre a defesa que os povos tradicionais fazem da natureza e de seus Encantados, sobre os direitos dos seres não humanos e vegetais, e nos mostrando que cada planta tem o seu espírito.
English Synopsis
The film follows rituals and evocation chants of plants, trees, leaves and entities associated with them, showing the deep relationship between spirituality and nature in different Brazilian cultures, as in the Candomblé Jeje, Ketu and Angola/Bantu, in the afro-Brazilian religion Umbanda and in the worldview of indigenous masters from Jequitinhonha Valley (Pankararu People) and Amazon Forest (Tikuna People), teaching us about the defense of nature and its spirits by traditional people, about the rights of non-humans and vegetables, and pointing out that each plant has its own spirit.

CÉSAR GUIMARÃES é realizador e Professor Titular da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, integrante do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Comunicação da FAFICH-UFMG e pesquisador do Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq). Integrante do Grupo de Pesquisa Poéticas da Experiência, editor da revista “Devires: Cinema e Humanidades” e atua no Programa de Formação Transversal em Saberes Tradicionais da UFMG (www.saberestradicionais.org)

CÉSAR GUIMARÃES is a filmmaker and Professor at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, a member of the Graduate Program in Communication at FAFICH-UFMG, and a researcher for the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). He is part of the Poetics of Experience Research Group, the editor of the journal “Devires: Cinema and Humanities,” and the General Coordinator of the Traditional Knowledges at UFMG (www.saberestradicionais.org)

PEDRO ASPAHAN é músico, realizador e professor da Escola de Belas Artes da UFMG. Doutor em Comunicação pela UFMG, com estágio doutoral na King’s College London, estudando as relações entre Cinema Moderno, Música Contemporânea e a Estética do Serialismo na obra de Straub-Huillet. Tem pós-doutorado em Comunicação e coordena o laboratório audiovisual dos Saberes Tradicionais da UFMG: www.saberestradicionais.org, especializando-se no campo do documentário, com filmes premiados no Brasil e no exterior.

PEDRO ASPAHAN is a musician, filmmaker and lecturer at the School of Fine Arts at UFMG. He has a PhD in Film Studies/Communication from UFMG, with a doctoral internship at King’s College London, studying the relationships between Modern Cinema, Contemporary Music, and the Aesthetics of Serialism in the work of Straub-Huillet. He has a postdoctoral degree in Communication and coordinates the audiovisual laboratory of Traditional Knowledges at UFMG: www.saberestradicionais.org, and he is specialized in the field of documentary.
